The Popdust Files: amy winehouse, concerts, jessie j, lily allen, tributes

After some speculation, plans for an Amy Winehouse tribute concert have been confirmed by the late singer’s father. “The Amy Winehouse Foundation is very excited to be planning a benefit concert in tribute to Amy later this year,” Mitch Winehouse told the U.K. Press Association. “We will be talking to a variety of people in the coming months and will announce those performing as soon as we can.” Fellow Brits Lily Allen and Jessie J are said to be on the short list, and the event will reportedly feature artists influenced by Amy as well as some of her own musical mentors.

Additional details are scant at the moment, but many artists have publicly remembered Winehouse in the months following her death. MTV honored the star at August’s Video Music Awards—with Bruno Mars covering her iconic version of “Valerie”—and it’s likely there will be some type of tribute at the Grammy Awards at Feb. 12. The Winehouse Foundation is following similar action taken by the Jackson Family, whose controversial tribute to Michael Jackson took place in October.
