The Popdust Files: broadway, darren criss, how to succeed in business without really trying, nick jonas
While Glee‘s Darren Criss continues to rake in the cash for How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and command the occasional riot following his performances, Nick Jonas is finding ways to make the many colorful bow ties of J. Pierrepont Finch his own, before stepping into the role full-time on January 24. In case you haven’t noticed, one’s status as a male heartthrob won’t be official in 2012 unless there is a stint on the Broadway circuit. How long before Justin Bieber takes the plunge? At 19, Jonas might be the youngest Ponty the production has seen thus far, following 24-year-old Criss and 22-year-old Daniel Radcliffe, but he also has most extensive Broadway resume of them all, bringing an almost blasé attitude towards the prospect of performing eight shows a week for screaming fans—portraying Chip in Beauty and the Beast will do that to a kid, once you’ve sung with dancing candelabra, what else is there to live for? Still, there are plenty of fans out there who need a Jonas fix, and Nick welcomes the opportunity to appear in the revival and for the chance to “own it, and make it [his] version of J. Pierrepont Finch.”
Watch the behind-the-scenes video below, which sees Nick posing showing off his rather flexible eyebrows in promotional photos and mingling with costar Rose Hemingway, who plays his character’s love interest. Between starting alongside Harry Potter, Blaine Warbler and now Jonas, we really feel bad for the girl.
