The Popdust Files: aubrey o'day, celebrity apprentice, clay aiken, debbie gibson, dee snider, donald trump, reality television

The 12th season of Celebrity Apprentice premieres February 12, bringing with it that vague definition of “celebrity” and countless shots of Donald Trump’s ageless hair that have made the show a ratings winner. The newest crop of Trump employees-to-be were announced on Today Wednesday morning, drawing from the expected reality star, athlete and actor pools, amidst a bountiful selection of former pop stars, including: Aubrey O’Day, Clay Aiken, Debbie Gibson and Dee Snider. With those names alone, this is shaping up to be one heck of a cross-generational clusterfluck as well as producing a way-more-enjoyable-than-it-should-be compilation playlist. So which contestant will be the most train wreck-y of the bunch? Our money is on Aubrey, who has proven to have a talent for navigating the field of reality competition shows, yet become insubordinate when faced with a domineering male authority figure. She’s also already been fired once (RIP Danity Kane), leaving us less than confident that history won’t repeat itself. Aiken is used to appealing to the people’s vote and Gibson abides by a strict behavioral guide which may prevent her from utilizing that killer Trump instinct when she needs it most, leaving us with former the Twister Sister frontman as our pick for the winner. Bret Michaels, who?

The foursome has already generated high expectations from The Donald. “I just think we have a major group of celebrities, and we have a very iconic group,” he told Matt Lauer. “This is the best cast we’ve ever had, the biggest cast, and it’s going to be special.” Rounding out the cast of 18 is former Incredible Hulk Lou Ferrigno, Tia Carrere, Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice, Victoria Gotti, Cheryl Tiegs, model Patricia Velasquez, former Miss Universe Dayana Mendoza, Lisa Lampanelli, Arsenio Hall, Adam Carolla, George Takei, Penn Jillette, Paul Teutul Sr.,  and racecar driver Michael Andretti. Eh, whatever you say, Don. Watch the announcement below. Team Snider all the way!
