The Popdust Files: kanye west, twitter

Twitter has enough users to fill an entire country full of spam links, Instagram photos, pining pleas for teenage celebrities to follow you and lots of day-to-day dalliances. But of all those zillions of users, only one has ever deserved an entire Etsy store devoted to hand-stitching their tweets of wisdom. That person, of course, is Kanye West, who blessed future generations with mantras like “Sometimes I get emotional over fonts.” and “I specifically ordered persian rugs with cherub imagery!!! What do I have to do to get a simple persian rug with cherub imagery uuuuugh.” Note, though, that we said “blessed,” not “continues to bless.” Alas, Kanye started tweeting regularly once Katy Perry’s “E.T.” hit No. 1–as if everything Kanye even said was in service of getting that single to the top–and even when he started over again, it was primarily for publicist-approved statements like “Tonight I’m proud to present this new work on VoyR. This first episode is free and I’d like you to sign up for weekly content.”

No more! For it is the holiday season, and considering that a good quarter of Kanye’s tweets were about and/or featured photos of luxury goods, the medium required his presence again. What’s on his Twitpic list? Vogue Paris stylist Carine Roitfeld’s Irreverent. NSFW photos of models. Red blazers. OK, yeah, that’s him. Hooray!
