The Popdust Files: feuds, justin bieber, mariah yeater

After earlier reports that Mariah Yeater was dropping her paternity lawsuit against Justin Bieber, a new lawyer for the 20-year-old has revealed that she will attempt to continue her case out of court. “This matter is not over,” said Jeffery M. Leving, a paternity lawyer who recently joined Yeater’s legal team, told Chicago’s WGN-TV on Wednesday. “Negotiations are going on right now with Bieber’s counsel. There’s a new legal team [in place.] We’re trying to secure a private DNA test, because this case is out of control.” And just as we were preparing to save our memory of Yeater strictly for those late-night trivia rounds, she’s extended her 15 minutes a little longer. Bieber’s team remains consistent in their denial of all allegations related to the claim that he is the father of Yeater’s son Tristyn. “We’ll continue to consider all of our options to protect Justin,” spokesman Matthew Hiltzik told People. His reps did not directly comment on the current state of Yeater’s lawsuit.

Yeater’s reconfigured team is aiming to keep things as private as possible moving forward. “My goal, when a DNA test is completed, is to keep everything confidential, which will be difficult if not impossible,” Leving explained, seeming to understand the fervor with which Beliebers have attacked the singer’s girlfriend Selena Gomez, as well as each other. “I don’t want something terrible to happen to my client or her child,” he said. “I’m very concerned about this.” Tough break for the producers of Maury.
