The Popdust Files: beyonce, katy perry, lady gaga, nominations, people's choice awards, Pitbull
There weren’t always this many nominees per category at the People’s Choice Awards, were there? Not according to the show’s Wiki page, anyway, which lists just five per from each of the last two years’ ceremonies. However, more is better with the nominations at award shows these days—just ask the Oscars—so now there’s a cool dozen possible winners in each category. Seriously is this really necessary? Is there actually any chance in Hollywood Hell that Nicole Scherzinger will beat Gaga, Katy, Britney and co. for Favorite Pop Artist? The Black Eyed Peas’ “Just Can’t Get Enough” upsetting “Rolling in the Deep,” “Moves Like Jagger” and “Edge of Glory”? Not gonna happen, muchacho. Patronizing to even suggest that it’s a possibility, really.
Anyway, they did just announce these, and a lot of the predictable people mentioned in the above paragraph are among the most-decorated nominees. Katy’s got the most with six, followed closely behind by Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Pitbull (YEAH PIT GETTIN IT DONE) with five each. Not that much of note to report, though it’s cool that Foster the People got nominated for Favorite Song (no chance), Miguel for Favorite R&B artist (no chance) and NKOTBSB for Favorite Tour headliner (hahahahahah). Here’s the complete list of musical nods (on which you can vote here), and if your favorite guy or girl somehow managed to get left off, be very, very insulted:
