Cher Lloyd’s “Sticks And Stones” Has Album Art And A Tracklisting

Sticks and stones might break Cher Lloyd’s bones, but punctuation will tattoo her legs. OK, joke over; it’s nice to see Cher Lloyd’s title allude to her anti-bullying stance, if only obliquely, and it’s nice to see her art adhere to her general aesthetic (doodles, colors, anything fun.) As for the album, it’s got, among others, U.S. megaproducers RedOne, Max Martin and Shellback, so we’re guessing it might have a decent shot in the U.S. market should it get a push there. But don’t take it from us. Clips from Sticks and Stones have been floating around the Internet for a while, and “Grow Up” alone makes it worth checking out, if only for how Cher Lloyd’s double-time can actually be mentioned in the same sentence as Busta Rhymes without being completely ridiculous. (No, really.) On the rest of the sampler, “With Ur Love” holds up, as does “Superhero”; “Dub on the Track” less so, if only because “the kind of girl to put dub[step] on the track” means every girl in the world recording pop music in 2011.

That said, three hits out of five is a promising ratio! Much more promising than we expected circa “Swagger Jagger,” that is. Count us excited.
