While the bond between Drake and his boss Lil Wayne is as strong as ever, there’s a substantial amount of separation between the Young Money protege and his mentor in the video for “Headlines,”the first official single off his upcoming Take Care, cementing Drake’s status as an individual artist worthy of his own hype. Rather than give countless shout-outs to Young Money and Weezy, Drake spends the majority of his time showing love for his hometown of Toronto, as well as branding any available wall space with the OVOXO tag, his own collaborative group with fellow Toronto native The Weeknd. While sweaters remain a wardrobe staple—and his Cosby-esque dinner party choice could be his best ever—here he’s taking chances, experimenting with leather gloves and new kinds of eyewear. We’ll ignore the pinky ring, which gives his Boys Only dinner a very mafioso-like vibe.
