Culture clashes at work: while in the pop world, Rihanna wearing a flannel shirt, bikini and jeans is actually fairly modest, all things considered, it’s the flannel and bikini of moral corruption to certain Irish farmers. Farmer Alan Graham was pretty peeved, at least. He said he got a call asking if “a pop video” could be filmed in his field in Bangor, agreed, and then was greeted by Rihanna’s partial undress (and, naturally, a crowd with camera phones.) So he told them to stop–they did, seemingly politely–then told the BBC: “I wish no ill will against Rihanna and her friends. Perhaps they could acquaint themselves with a greater God.”
On the one hand, it is his field. On the other hand, the area has nice beaches that’d probably give him conniption fits. But then again, he’s probably Googled Rihanna by now (according to the original article, he either wasn’t told beforehand or didn’t know the name.) Let’s hope he hasn’t yet found the “S&M” video. That debate’s been debated too much.
