The Popdust Files: christina perri, twilight

Loyal Popdust followers will know that Christina Perri is “unreasonably obsessed” with Twilight, specifically with Robert Pattinson. That, combined with her somewhat sudden rise to fame, means that she probably really freaked out at some point about being asked to be part of the Breaking Dawn soundtrack with track “A Thousand Years.”

Who else is on it, besides Bruno Mars and his musical rainfall? None of the big names you’d expect (i.e. no Muse, Paramore or Florence, not even when two out of three are amid new album cycles). Carter Burwell’s on it again, and Iron & Wine’s “Flightless Bird, American Mouth” makes a reprise here in a “Wedding Version,” which practically gives away that entire scene. Certain people might be interested in The Joy Formidable, Theophilus London or the Noisettes, all of whom are represented. As for the tracks’ content, you know: multiple references to love, one reference to death and rebirth. You know.
