The Popdust Files: madonna

Come spring 2012, you probably won’t have to hear about W.E. anymore. There’ll be more pressing news–Madonna’s next album, her twelfth, and its lead single due February or March. That’s about all the new news we’ve gotten, the announcement being made at the Venice Film Festival and not, say, the Madonna Confesses All About Her Recording Process Festival (which probably would be well-attended, though.)

So let’s recap. William Orbit’s in, Martin Solveig is in, and Jean-Baptiste Kouame, who produced “Boom Boom Pow,” wrote a lot of other stuff and is the only guy on the list who needs extra verbiage, is also in. Those who complained about Confessions on a Dance Floor and Hard Candy will likely not be swayed; those who thought these two albums hold up in retrospect or that Orbit-produced Ray of Light was a highlight of Madonna’s career were probably swayed three posts ago. For any others, maybe wait a few months?
