The Popdust Files: Afrojack, live at the vmas, Nayer, ne-yo, Pitbull

Probably the least anticipated performance of the evening due to its complete lack of mystery—OMG, is Pitbull going to wear sunglasses and a white suit? Is Ne-Yo going to have his hat just so? Is Nayer going to be completely indistinguishable from the dozens of backup dancers?—”Give Me Everything” was indeed, just as expected. The summer’s most thoughtlessly enjoyable club jam translates well to an award show stage, especially with green laser lights being shot in every possible direction, and Ne-Yo and Pitbull are nothing if not professionals, but there is absolutely nothing about this specific performance that you will remember by the end of the following commercial break. (With the possible exception of Nayer’s back-to-nature, flesh-colored dress—can’t wait for that solo album, Nay!)
