Foster The People Covers Weezer Now

Los Angeles band Foster the People obviously took notice when Weezer covered their iTunes-climbing hit “Pumped Up Kicks” earlier this month, respectfully returning the favor with a performance of their 1994 track “Say It Ain’t So” during a show in Brooklyn last week. Neither performance was revolutionary—although it helps that Foster chose a song that awakens ancient feelings, with the memorable guitar chord that every budding musician learns at one point or another—and we prefer both originals, but maybe this display can usher in a new trend of artists respectfully interacting through a series of cool live performances, instead of calling one another out in interviews, dropping violent threats within their songs or hiding behind their computers only to air their dramatic and grammatically incorrect grievances all over our Twitter feed. Wishful thinking at best. Then again, a world with no feuds? What a boring place that would be.
