Best Coast has put a modern spin on the Jets-Sharks showdown in their new video for “Our Deal,” making them the second current act to borrow from West Side Story in the last week. Directed by Drew Barrymore, the video features cameos from several actors, including young Chloe Moretz (no longer the precocious little sister) making out with MTV’s new Teen Wolf Tyler Posey. (FYI she’s 14, buddy.) The two play members star-crossed lovers of rival gangs—the Night Creepers and Day Trotters—whose romance is at risk thanks to their respective group’s hatred of one another. Fellow members are comprised of a sampling of young Hollywood: Donald Glover, Miranda Cosgrove and Alia Shawkat. In his letterman jacket, Glover appears to be playing more to his role of Troy Barnes pre-Greendale, rather than his music alter ego Childish Gambino. While the violence coming from the teen like Moretz is morbid, it’s not far from her role as Hit Girl in last year’s Kick-Ass. Typecast, much?
