The Popdust Files: taylor swift

Like Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift wants to control the aroma that fills her crowded concert venues (which we can understand, only because there have to be plenty of her younger fans that don’t use deodorant quite yet). After announcing plans for her debut fragrance back in November, Swift has taken the next step in her entrepreneurship by revealing its name (Wonderstruck) and its deeply, deeply personal connection. Inspired by a line within the track “Enchanted,” (“I’m wonderstruck, blushing all the way home”) was developed by Swift and Olivier Gillotin of Givaudan, with plans to hit stores this October. “A fragrance can help shape someone’s first impression and memory of you. It’s exciting to think that Wonderstruck will play a role in creating some of those memories,” she says. (So it’s likely to become a must-have item among girls with a lot of feelings.) According to today’s press release, the fragrance’s exterior is also representative of Swift herself, rectifying our wrongful assumption that lipstick is the most complex beauty product on the market. So many adjectives! For example:

A perfectly charmed deep purple bottle holds this enchanting fragrance. The iridescent rainbow finish, never before used in the fragrance industry, gives the bottle a magical glow. The antiqued gold charms that adorn the bottle were hand-picked by Taylor and are reminiscent of her unique style. The Moravian star, dove and birdcage charms are signature decorative elements that evoke Taylor’s whimsical flair. The charms appear once again within the intricate detail of the embossed cap, capturing Taylor’s love of hidden messages. The carton is a modern day patchwork, homage to the many fabrics Taylor has collected on her travels. The finishing touch to the package is a gold embossed 13, which fans will recognize as Taylor’s lucky number.

And that’s only a description of the bottle. The fragrance include hints of raspberry, peach, vanilla, amber and sandalwood, and each individual scent is described in a more pleasant and appealing way than the one that precedes it. Because Taylor is all about making memories and depicting her relationships through her professional endeavors (even the bad ones), it’s likely we can expect a darker, dirtier break-up fragrance within the next year or so. One that smells of the pathetic aromas of dirty laundry, cold Chinese food and unwashed hair, of course.
