Small Kid Owns “Thriller” Dance at Mariners Game

The Popdust Files: baseball, michael jackson, thriller, viral videos
These are heady times for Mariners fans in Seattle. They have an unexpected shot at the AL West divisional title (only 4.5 guys out!), they have the most exciting young pitcher in baseball (and the best cheering section in the majors, specifically for him), and now they even have the country’s pre-eminent “Thriller” dancer of a sub-Bar Mitzvah age. In a game last week against the San Diego Padres, the Mariners dubbed it ’80s night, wore fantastic throwback uniforms, and showcased a small child performing a dance to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” on the JumboTron. Said young’n does the zombie moves, the moonwalk, MJ points, and even curls his M’s cap on his arm and onto his head.
The kid’s swag is indeed phenomenal, but what really makes the clip a must-watch is the commentary of those filming, as they remark “Swag, bro, swag” and shout “It’s OVER!” like Kenny Smith at the 2000 NBA Dunk Contest, as if there was another, much less-talented 11-year-old doing the “Billie Jean” dance on the other side of the field.
