If you’re not super familiar with Kevin “K-Mac” McCall, now would be a pretty good time to get acquainted. The writer/producer has already served as one of the guiding forces behind two big crossover hits for other artists, Wiz Khalifa’s shoulda-really-saved-it-for-summer jam “Roll Up” and Chris Brown’s ice-cold kiss-off “Deuces.” The latter also showed off K-Mac’s rapping skills on the song’s third verse (“The other chick I’m with never complainin’ / She make me wanna leave the one I’m with / Usher Raymond”), but now we have a full-length sampling of McCall’s skills in the form of new single and video, “Fuck You Pay Me.”
The clip features a very determined-looking McCall working over a punching bag and getting caressed by a naked woman in “Umbrella”-like body paint, while he raps about how he “used to be celibate / but now I’m fucking amazing” over a Bangladesh-like beat. (Booming, monotonous bass—think “6 Foot 7 Foot.”) K-Mac even slips in a reference to his “Deuces” contributions, claiming that “Till I wrote ‘Deuces’ ni**as ain’t know who I was,” / before that I was sober, now I finally got a buzz.” Better late than never, Kev.
