What’s the latest piece of advice (you didn’t know they could help you with your personal life?) from Black Cards? That you should listen to the new track, “Smash,” that Popdust Ph.D. Pete Wentz posted to his blog. Tweeted Wentz earlier:

The track’s a demo, so it’s too early for a full review, but here’s your Cliffs Notes rundown:
- Ska influences, particularly the No Doubt/Gwen Stefani versions. And there’s definitely a Gwen Stefani-shaped hole in music this year.
- Practically helium-enhanced (and otherwise enhanced, but hey, it’s 2011) vocals by Bebe Rexha.
- The lighthearted “dum-duddy-dum” versions of nonsense syllables, as opposed to the menacing “Man Down” kind or the stuttery Lady Gaga kind.
- A lot of probably intentionally provocative lyrics: “get trashed with me,” “I like you best when you’re kneeling” and the like.
