As if Tha Carter IV wasn’t anticipated enough already. Weezy’s eighth studio album and follow-up to 2008′s (itself delayed) Tha Carter III has been delayed again from June 21, its former release date, to August 29. That’s practically the end of summer! One month away from it, technically, but come on: September counts as fall.
There aren’t many details at this point–the new date has been confirmed by a Universal Motown rep, but there’s no word yet on why, leaving us only with questions: is “How to Love” somehow responsible for this? How many Detox comparisons are going to spring up in the next few hours? (Ours doesn’t count.) And with what will we fill our endless overheated June and July hours?
There’s an answer to that one, at least, as an unnamed new single is slated for a Fourth of July release. Other than that, well, bummer. We’ll keep you posted if more news surfaces.
