As you all no doubt know by now, last night a series of huge earthquakes, including one of a practically unprecedented 8.9 magnitude, hit Japan, resulting in a tsunami that has swept through the country and inspired warnings to be issued in at least 50 countries and territories—including Hawaii, where the tsunami hit earlier this morning. The death toll in Japan is already in the hundreds, and tens of thousands have had to be evacuated to shelters.

Unsurprisingly, a number of artists have offered messages of sympathy and support for those struck by the tragedy, with more expected throughout the day as people wake up to news of this tragedy. Here’s a sampling of what people have been saying:
