Mick Jagger made the brave decision to play the Grammys in a way that would highlight the issues with his continued presence in modern music to the greatest degree possible, which is why he performed immediately after the death montage and wore a kelly green jacket-and-shirt combo that made it almost impossible not to think of a leprechaun. But that’s our Mick! Paying tribute to the late soul legend Solomon Burke, he vamped furiously here and there, working up a lot of smoke but no fire. While no one is holding their breath for another Jagger solo project, this performance only emphasized the degree to which his charisma depends on having Keith and the Stones behind him.
